About Natural Hair Care

Tips for healthy, gleaming hair
Like skin, hair needs protection from the sun, wear a hat.

A good time to apply a hair treatment is just before you get into a warm bath. The scalp is more responsive to treatments when the pores are dilated and when the skin is relaxed.

On the final rinse, use cool water, it will tighten pores and leave your hair shinier.

Have hard water? Try a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a quart of warm water and pour through your hair. The vinegar cuts through soap and mineral residue and adds shine.

Avoid blow dryers, hot rollers, over brushing, gel, or hair spray.

Don’t over wash your hair. Use gentle, non-detergent shampoos, with one application once or twice a week is all you really need.

Don’t use the same shampoo every time you wash, rotate two or even three shampoos to keep your hair balanced.

Ever notice how many people over 50 have shiny, gleaming hair, not many. It’s not necessarily a natural process for hair to lose its gleam and glow. Rather than aging, this lack of life is almost always due to abuse: over washing, blow dryers, chemical products like sprays, perms and gels.

Do yourself a favor, reduce the need for hair styling products and find a hair stylist who will cut your hair in a way that naturally falls with minimal effort.

If you have dry, dull hair, use a deep oil conditioner once or twice a month.

Massage the scalp every few days or at least once a week.

Wash your brush every time you shampoo.
